In accordance with the regulations of "New Campus Epidemic Prevention Regulation for the fall semester of the 2022 academic year" announced by the Ministry of Education, the principle of "isolation-type dormitory" for students is implemented as follows:
1. Isolation-type dormitory is classified into two categories: "nursing dormitory" and "isolation dormitory":
1.1 The University allocates the male and female dormitories with independent bathrooms as "nursing dormitory" and "isolation dormitory". There are external windows to maintain air circulation in each room.
1.2 "Nursing dormitory": A dormitory that can be used for the confirmed cases before transferring to a doctor by the Health Department, or as a mild case determined by a doctor. In principle, the mildly confirmed cases should return home (please follow the latest regulations of the Command Center for transportation). If the University decides to make an exception to stay on campus (*Note), they should stay in the nursing dormitory.
1.3 "Isolation dormitory": A dormitory that provides home isolation for staff and students who live with the confirmed patient. In principle, close contacts should return home for isolation (please follow the latest regulations of the Command Center for transportation). If the University decides to make an exception to stay on campus (*Note), they should stay in the isolation dormitory.
*Note: Exceptions to stay on campus will be considered by the University’s Epidemic Prevention and Control Team on a case-by-case basis (such as foreign students who have no residence in Taiwan, those who have a long way to return home and no family member to pick up, and those who do not meet the requirement of the Command Center in their home or off-campus rental accommodation home care or isolation places).
2. Preparations and Precautions:
2.1 Before students move into the dormitory, the staff of the Office of General Affairs should complete the comprehensive cleaning and disinfection of the dormitory environment (including rooms), air-conditioning system and public area.
2.2 Before students move into the dormitory, the staff of the Student Housing Section should make a record of implementing health management. Parents and students should be informed about the dormitory's epidemic prevention management measures.
2.3 Sufficient anti-epidemic materials (such as forehead thermometers and masks), cleaning supplies (such as hand soap) and disinfection supplies (such as diluted 1,000ppm bleach and 75% alcohol) are prepared. Health monitoring of dormitory staff is implemented.
2.4 The entrance and exit lines of the dormitory are clearly planned and marked for personnel control. Hand disinfection equipment (75% alcohol or alcohol-based hand sanitizer) should be provided at the entrance.
2.5 Do not allow parents and visitors to enter the dormitory unless necessary. 2.6 Three meals are provided by the Office of General Affairs. The meals are delivered to the door of the dormitory. After isolation, the fee for the meals must be paid. 2.7 During the period of "nursing" and "isolation", you are not allowed to go out (including classes).
3. Principles for the preparation of dormitories in isolation-type dormitory: 3.1 The nursing dormitory is for the mildly diagnosed cases. The isolation dormitory is for the home-isolated individuals. The two groups must be clearly divided and cannot be mixed in the same room.
3.2 It can be arranged as a single building or on the same floor. The principle of "space separation and non-intersection" is adopted.
3.3 There is an independent bathroom in the room, which can be shared with the general dormitory. If it is a public bathroom, it must be clearly separated from the general dormitory. An exclusive fixed bathroom and independent moving lines should be adopted.
3.4 According to the original room type of the nursing dormitory and the isolation dormitory, multiple people can be used in one room; but the independent bathroom or exclusive shared bathroom must be properly cleaned.
3.5 Students diagnosed on the same starting date can be arranged to live in the same room. The same applies to home-isolated students on the same starting date and autonomous health managers on the same starting date.
3.6 There are 137 isolation-type dormitory rooms (67 for males and 70 for females) at the University. When there is sufficient room, one person stays in one room. If there is not enough room, two or more people stay in one room. Those who do not want to be isolated by more than one person, please return home for isolation.
4. The check-in process of the isolation-type dormitory:
4.1 Preliminary:
(1) Confirm check-in time and dormitory.
(2) Health care books and brochures.
(3) Preparation of anti-epidemic materials and living supplies.
(4) Epidemic prevention propaganda for relevant personnel (school security personnel, housekeepers, food delivery and garbage disposal personnel).
4.2 Check-in process:
(1) Move the daily necessities into the room.
(2) Be informed the precaution notices.
(3) Staff of the Health Care Section conducts daily temperature monitoring and caring.
4.3 Check-out process:
(1) The rapid screening test is negative and the body temperature is confirmed to be normal without other related symptoms.
(2) Personal epidemic prevention and materials can be took away by the individual.
(3) The staff of the Office of General Affairs conducts disinfection of dormitories and public areas.
